Atlantic.net Sucks

For those of you wondering what in tarnation my last entry was about, for the past several months I have been in webhosting limbo. My original host, Feature Price, disintegrated without warning. Sure, I was still enjoying my 1 gig of webspace and UNLIMITED BANDWIDTH, but there were others whose sites were non-functional, etc. Come June 1, it came to pass that Feature Price officially died and Atlantic.net acquired most of Feature Price's customers. By "most," I mean only those people who had purchased the supercrazyexpensive packages. Those of us with poor-mans plans and smaller sites and less money found out that our plans would not be honored by Atlantic.net because Atlantic.net is a large collective of cum swallowers. They gave us the choice to sign up for an entirely new plan with them or go somewhere else for hosting services. The deadline they gave us was August 1, except on July 1 Feature Price cut Atlantic.net off from their servers so when everyone's sites disappeared (including mine), Atlantic couldn't really do anything. So now I'm hosted at Total Choice Hosting (totalchoicehosting.com) and I'm blown away at how much better than Feature Price they are in terms of service (tech support took 5 min to answer a question -- good lawd!) and features offered. Sure, I don't have UNLIMITED BANDWIDTH or ONE GIG of space, and I am sure sad I can't offer my archive of mp3s anymore, but I'm paying less than I was before.

Through some stroke of luck, my site was largely unaffected by Feature Price's poor service up until this week. While there are a lot of people who are super pissed at Feature Price for all the crappy things they've done, I can easily say that it wasn't Feature Price that fucked me, rather it was Atlantic.net that fucked me when they decided my plan wasn't worth salvaging.

So I pray to the Google God that in the future, when some poor soul out there on the information superhighway is in the unfortunate position of being jaded and searching for a decent host, they come across this entry which has one main point.

DO NOT CONDUCT BUSINESS WITH ATLANTIC.NET

Happy 4th of July, everyone! Updates on my life to come.
